chiropractic_img1.jpgChiropractic is among the safest and most effective treatment for a variety of joint, muscle and nerve related conditions. Originating from the Greek words meaning treatment by hand, chiropractic involves manual manipulation of the body in order to promote healing and wellness. It is a form of natural health care that focuses on treating a patient without the use of prescription drugs or surgery. Evenmore, it the largest complementary and alternative health profession, and it is the third largest area of healthcare after standard allopathic medicine and dentistry.

Chiropractic care utilizes traditional diagnostic methods involving a thorough history and evaluation and testing methods such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI's and lab work, when necessary. Treatments may include chiropractic manipulation of spinal or other joints, stretching, soft tissue manipulation and cold or hot therapy. Treatment frequency and duration varies on the condition being treated and the overall health of the patient. The ultimate treatment goal is to reduce pain and inflammation, normalize function and improve your quality of life!

The roots of chiropractic care can be traced all the way back to the beginning of recorded time. Writings from China and Greece written in 2700 B.C. and 1500 B.C. mention spinal manipulation and the maneuvering of the lower extremities to ease low back pain. In the United States, the practice of spinal manipulation began gaining momentum in the late nineteenth century. In 1895, Daniel David Palmer founded the Chiropractic profession in Davenport, Iowa.

Throughout the twentieth century, doctors of chiropractic gained legal recognition in all fifty states and have become pioneers in the field of non-invasive healthcare promoting science-based approaches to a variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Doctors of Chiropractic are primary health care providers licensed in all 50 states, and are recognized by governmental health care programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation programs and more.
